LOS ANGELES, CA — The son of celebrated director and actor Rob Reiner has been taken into custody in connection with the apparent homicide of Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, who were discovered dead at their Brentwood home on Sunday.
Authorities arrested Nick Reiner, 32, on felony charges early Monday morning, according to Los Angeles County jail records, which list his bail at $4 million. Official charges have not yet been publicly announced by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

The bodies of Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found by emergency responders who arrived at their residence shortly after 3:30 p.m. local time on Sunday following a medical aid call.

The Reiner family released a brief statement confirming the tragic news:
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
Nick Reiner is one of the couple’s three biological children. In 2015, he co-wrote the film Being Charlie, a semi-autobiographical movie about addiction that his father directed. He had previously spoken openly about his struggles with substance abuse, which led to bouts of homelessness before he began his recovery.
As of Monday afternoon, it was not immediately clear if Nick Reiner has retained legal representation, and police have not provided any information regarding a potential motive. The investigation is ongoing.
