LOS ANGELES — Following her recent success in the survival thriller Never Let Go, Halle Berry is significantly expanding her Hollywood footprint. Through her production banner HalleHolly, Berry has officially greenlit a massive new slate of projects, headlined by a gender-swapped adaptation of the political thriller The President Is Missing and the action-comedy Bad Cop, Bad Cop.
Madam President: A High-Stakes Political Thriller
Berry is set to take on the role of President Joanna Duncan in the film adaptation of the 2018 bestseller The President Is Missing, co-authored by former President Bill Clinton and James Patterson.
The project, which was originally in development as a series at Showtime, has found a new home at Apple Original Films. Berry will star as the Commander-in-Chief who is forced to go rogue, outmaneuvering her own Secret Service and escaping the White House to stop a lethal cyberattack that threatens to plunge the nation into “the dark ages.”
- Director/Writers: Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and David Chasteen.
- Production: Berry will produce alongside Bill Clinton and James Patterson.
From Politics to Punchlines: ‘Bad Cop, Bad Cop’
In a sharp pivot from the Oval Office, Berry is also confirmed for the action-comedy Bad Cop, Bad Cop. Directed by Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect, Blockers), the film casts Berry as a “deadly assassin” (or a hardened detective, depending on the source) who finds herself in a chaotic ride-along with two wildly incompetent beat cops.
- Co-Stars: Comedians Fortune Feimster and Jillian Bell.
- The Vibe: Sources describe the film as a high-energy comedy where Berry’s “straight-man” intensity balances the physical comedy of Feimster and Bell.
A Massive 2026 Slate
These two projects are part of a broader “second act” for Berry, who recently shared her excitement on Instagram, calling it a “new chapter unlocked.” Her upcoming 2026 schedule includes:
Crime 101: Starring alongside Chris Hemsworth & Mark Ruffalo.
Fleur: An upscale escort/dominatrix in Paris.
Zero Fks***: A menopause-themed comedy
The Patient: A psychological horror drama
Berry’s production company, HalleHolly (co-founded with Holly Jeter), is also developing a body-swap comedy titled Family Swap and a psychological thriller called Sunburn.
