Following his scene-stealing return in Deadpool & Wolverine, Wesley Snipes has confirmed he is “ready and willing” to pick up the sword for a potential Blade 4.
The announcement comes at a critical junction for the franchise. While Marvel Studios has been struggling to launch its own reboot starring Mahershala Ali, Snipes’ multiversal cameo as the “Daywalker” reignited fan nostalgia and proved the 63-year-old actor still has the physicality for the role.
”There’s Only One Blade”
The momentum for a fourth solo Snipes film has shifted from “fan pipe dream” to a legitimate conversation within the industry. During recent press appearances in early 2026, Snipes addressed the overwhelming fan response to his return.
- The Commitment: Snipes has stated he is in “the best shape of his life” and remains open to a solo project or a significant recurring role in the MCU’s upcoming multiversal events.
- The Meta-Joke: His iconic line from Deadpool & Wolverine—”There’s only been one Blade. There’s only ever gonna be one Blade”—has become a rallying cry for fans who want to see the original trilogy’s story continue.
The State of the MCU Reboot
The path for Blade 4 is complicated by the fact that Marvel Studios officially has another Blade in development. However, that project has faced a legendary “development hell” including:
- Director Departures: Both Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange exited the project due to creative differences.
- Release Delays: After being pulled from the late 2025 schedule, the Mahershala Ali-led film is currently without a firm release date, with rumors suggesting it may pivot into a Midnight Sons ensemble movie instead.
Could Both Exist?
With the Marvel Cinematic Universe currently leaning heavily into the Multiverse Saga, industry insiders suggest there is room for both versions. Much like how Spider-Man: No Way Home utilized multiple versions of the same hero, rumors are swirling that Snipes could lead a “Legacy” project under the Marvel Spotlight banner—a label designed for grittier, standalone stories that don’t require deep knowledge of the wider MCU.
”If the script is right and the coordination is there, I’m in,” Snipes told reporters. “We haven’t finished the hunt yet.”
