CUPERTINO, CA — Apple TV+ has pulled back the curtain on its highly anticipated psychological thriller, Imperfect Women, with the release of a gripping first teaser trailer. The eight-episode limited series, which stars and is executive produced by Emmy winners Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) and Kerry Washington (Scandal), is set to make its global debut on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
The teaser, unveiled during the 2026 Apple TV Press Day, begins with a deceptively warm scene of three lifelong friends—played by Moss, Washington, and Kate Mara—sharing a celebratory toast. However, the tone shifts abruptly into a chilling police investigation following a brutal murder that shatters their decades-long bond.
A Masterclass in Tension
Based on the acclaimed 2020 novel by Araminta Hall, the series is described as an “unconventional thriller” that explores the darker corners of female friendship. The footage hints at a story rich with “Big Little Lies” vibes, focusing on the compromises that irrevocably alter lives and the shocking truths that emerge when even the closest relationships are put under a microscope.
Annie Weisman, known for her work on Physical, serves as the series creator and showrunner, reuniting with Apple for this tonally darker project.
Cast & Creative Pedigree
The production boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast and a high-profile creative team:
- Lead Stars: Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington, and Kate Mara.
- Supporting Cast: Joel Kinnaman (For All Mankind), Corey Stoll (House of Cards), Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary).
- Directing: Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Love & Death) directed the premiere episode, setting the visual and psychological pace for the series.
- Production: A co-production between 20th Television and Apple Studios, produced via Moss’s Love & Squalor Pictures and Washington’s Simpson Street.
”From the moment I received Araminta’s novel, I couldn’t put it down. It was such an electrifying read; I fell in love with it immediately,” Moss said of the project.
With its focus on guilt, retribution, and the complexity of shared history, Imperfect Women is positioning itself as a major contender in the 2026 prestige television landscape.
