LUKE EVANS stars as Vlad in "Dracula Untold", the origin story of the man who became Dracula. Gary Shore directs and Michael De Luca produces the epic action-adventure that co-stars Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon and Charles Dance.
Despite a recent surge in social media rumors and convincing trailers circulating on YouTube, there is no official confirmation from Universal Pictures that a sequel to Dracula Untold is in development.
The excitement appears to be fueled by high-quality, AI-generated “concept trailers” and fan-made mashups that have gone viral. While these videos look professional—often featuring Luke Evans alongside actors like Keanu Reeves—they are fan tributes rather than official announcements.
The Status of the Franchise
The original 2014 film, starring Luke Evans as Vlad Tepes, was famously intended to launch Universal’s “Dark Universe.” However, due to shifting studio priorities and the subsequent failure of 2017’s The Mummy, those plans were scrapped.
- Universal’s Current Focus: Universal has moved away from a “shared universe” model in favor of standalone monster movies like The Invisible Man (2020) and Abigail (2024).
- Competing Projects: There is actually a new Dracula film in theaters right now! Luc Besson’s Dracula: A Love Tale (starring Caleb Landry Jones and Christoph Waltz) was released in North America on February 6, 2026. This is a separate adaptation and not a sequel to the 2014 Luke Evans film.
- Luke Evans’ Schedule: Luke Evans remains busy with other projects, including his Broadway debut in a 2026 revival of The Rocky Horror Show.
