Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds is about to get a massive infusion of Eorzean magic. Title Update 3, launching September 29, brings a full-blown crossover with Final Fantasy XIV Online, introducing new monsters, gear, and gameplay mechanics that blur the line between worlds.
Omega Planetes Descends: A Dimensional Rift Opens
At the heart of the update is Omega Planetes, a reimagined version of the iconic FF14 raid boss. Hunters who’ve reached Hunter Rank 41 and completed the main quest “What Lies Ahead” can face this interdimensional threat in the Iceshard Cliffs. Omega’s arsenal includes the devastating Delta Attack, which spawns a Nerscylla clone that must be defeated to generate a protective shield.
Other familiar faces from Eorzea include the mischievous Cactuar and the ominous Morbol Seedling, both appearing as wild creatures in the new questline.
New Jobs, New Powers: Dark Knight and Pictomancer Join the Hunt
Two FF14 jobs make their Monster Hunter debut:
– Dark Knight: Equipping the Bale Armor α unlocks Soul of the Dark Knight, enabling the special action The Blackest Knight. This move consumes HP to create a powerful barrier. The accompanying greatsword, Shadowbringer, features a unique weapon skill.
– Pictomancer: With Soul of the Pictomancer, hunters can cast spells using a magical paintbrush. Combine motifs to unleash Mog of the Ages, a high-damage finisher that’s as whimsical as it is deadly.
Seasonal Events and Arch-Tempered Threats
The update also introduces the Festival of Accord: Dreamspell, bringing autumn-themed decorations, gestures, and Palico gear. On October 22, a new permanent Event Quest arrives featuring Arch-Tempered Nu Udra, a brutal challenge for HR100+ hunters. Defeating it unlocks the Nu Udra γ armor set and matching Palico gear.
What’s Next?
Capcom teased the return of Gogmazios, a volcanic Elder Dragon, in December’s Title Update 4. But for now, the spotlight is firmly on the FF14 crossover—one of the most ambitious collaborations in Monster Hunter history.
