BROOKLYN, NY – The literary world and “BookTok” enthusiasts are buzzing as Tia Williams’ bestselling novel, Seven Days in June, officially moves into active development for a television adaptation. In a major win for fans of modern Black romance, Prime Video has secured the rights to bring the steamy, second-chance love story of Eva Mercy and Shane Hall to the small screen.
The Creative Team
The project is being spearheaded by a powerhouse production lineup. Leading the charge is Felicia Pride (Grey’s Anatomy, Really Love), who will serve as the series’ writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Pride’s production company, Honey Chile, is partnering with Will Packer Media and Kinetic Content to bring the project to life.
Author Tia Williams is also attached as an executive producer, ensuring the TV series remains faithful to the wit and “unashamed Blackness” that made the 2021 Reese’s Book Club pick a global phenomenon.
The Story: A Steamy Brooklyn Reunion
The adaptation will follow the same high-stakes premise that captivated over 150,000 reviewers on Goodreads:
- Eva Mercy: A successful erotica author and single mother struggling with chronic pain and the pressures of her career.
- Shane Hall: A reclusive, award-winning literary darling who reappears in New York after 15 years.
- The Conflict: While the “Black literati” watches them spar at a book event, no one knows that as teenagers, the two spent seven frantic, life-changing days falling in love—a week that has haunted their writing ever since.
“Every so often I get to engage in a project that I am absolutely sure will be a game changer,” said producer Will Packer. “Seven Days in June is provocative, timely, and wildly entertaining.”
Production Status and Casting
As of February 2026, the series remains in the pre-production phase.
While the internet is currently flooded with “fan casts” (with many eyeing actors who can capture Shane’s brooding intensity and Eva’s sharp Brooklyn energy), no official casting announcements have been made.
This marks the second major adaptation for Tia Williams, following the successful Netflix film The Perfect Find starring Gabrielle Union. However, Seven Days in June is expected to be a limited series, allowing for a deeper dive into the characters’ complex backstories and their tumultuous week in the Brooklyn heat.
