CULVER CITY, CA — Amazon MGM Studios has officially set the stage for its next viral obsession. 56 Days, the highly anticipated erotic thriller series based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s best-selling novel, is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Prime Video on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
The eight-episode series aims to redefine the “whirlwind romance” with a dark, psychological twist that has already drawn comparisons to You and The Perfect Couple.
The Premise: A Fatal Countdown
The story follows Ciara Wyse (Dove Cameron) and Oliver Kennedy (Avan Jogia), two strangers who meet by chance in a supermarket and fall “fast and dangerously hard” for one another. However, the romance takes a gruesome turn when, exactly 56 days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified, brutally murdered, and intentionally decomposed body.
The series utilizes a non-linear narrative, intercutting between:
- The Past: The twisted, sexy trajectory of the couple’s intense 56-day affair.
- The Present: A high-stakes investigation led by detectives Lee Reardon (Karla Souza) and Karl Connolly (Dorian Missick) as they try to determine who killed whom.
Gen Z Icons Meet Horror Royalty
The casting of Dove Cameron (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Avan Jogia (Orphan Black: Echoes) has already sent social media into a frenzy, with critics noting the “haunting energy” and “suspicious charm” the two bring to their respective roles.
Behind the camera, the production carries serious weight:
- Executive Producers: Developed by Lisa Zwerling (ER) and Karyn Usher (Prison Break).
- Horror Pedigree: The series is produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster, the studio behind The Conjuring and M3GAN, promising a sleek and unsettling atmosphere.
