HOLLYWOOD, CA — In a move that signals a major shift in the streaming landscape, BET and Paramount Global have officially greenlit a sixth season of the multi-Emmy-nominated comedy, The Ms. Pat Show.
The announcement, made on March 26, 2026, confirms that the series will serve as the flagship “bridge” for BET content as the BET+ standalone streaming service is shuttered and folded into the broader Paramount+ platform starting this June.
A New Home for an Unfiltered Voice
The renewal marks a historic moment for the series, which has built a reputation as one of the boldest and most “R-rated” family sitcoms in television history. Based on the real-life memoir of comedian Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams-Lee, the show follows a former drug dealer and convicted felon turned suburban mom in Plainfield, Indiana.
- The Streaming Shift: Starting June 2026, Paramount+ will become the exclusive streaming home for all five existing seasons of The Ms. Pat Show, with Season 6 set to premiere as a Paramount+ Original.
- Global Reach: Co-creator Jordan E. Cooper noted that the move gives the show access to Paramount’s global subscriber base of nearly 80 million, a massive leap from the more niche audience of BET+.
- Zero Compromise: Despite the move to a “broader” streamer, the creators have assured fans that the show’s raw, unfiltered DNA will remain intact. “We’re not changing the recipe,” Cooper said. “We’re just moving into a bigger kitchen.”
The “First Domino” in the BET-Paramount Merger
The Season 6 renewal is the first major greenlight issued since the announcement that Paramount/Skydance would be consolidating its streaming assets.
The move is part of a larger strategy to “globalize” culturally specific stories. By placing Ms. Pat alongside Paramount+ heavyweights like Yellowstone and Star Trek, the network hopes to prove that authentic Black storytelling has universal blockbuster appeal.
What to Expect in Season 6
While a specific premiere date has not yet been set, the core cast is confirmed to return:
- Patricia Williams-Lee as Ms. Pat
- J. Bernard Calloway as Terry
- Tami Roman as Denise
- Theodore John Barnes, Briyana Guadalupe, and Vince Swann as the Lambert children.
Season 5, which concluded in February 2026, continued the show’s tradition of tackling “third-rail” topics like school shootings, systemic inequities, and non-binary pronouns with a mix of blunt honesty and high-energy comedy. Season 6 is expected to delve deeper into Ms. Pat’s burgeoning career as a public figure while the kids navigate the complexities of young adulthood.
Subscriber Transition
To ease the transition for loyal BET+ viewers, Paramount+ is currently offering a promotional rate of $2.99 per month for the first two months for those migrating their accounts before the June shutdown.
As Ms. Pat herself posted on Instagram following the news: “WE GOT SEASON SIX ON THE DAMN WAY and we have a NEW home! It’s because of YOU that we get to tell our stories!”
