Hollywood’s entrepreneurial powerhouse is back, and this time, she’s bringing boardroom chaos to the big screen.
Jessica Alba has officially sold an original pitch for an untitled R-rated female ensemble comedy to Netflix, marking a vibrant new chapter in her creative partnership with the streaming giant. The project will be produced under her banner, Lady Metalmark Entertainment, with Alba herself set to star alongside longtime producing partner Tracey Nyberg.
Inspired by Alba’s own experiences attending corporate retreats as a businesswoman, the comedy promises a sharp, irreverent look at the absurdities of modern executive culture. Think awkward icebreakers, passive-aggressive team-building exercises, and a sisterhood of alpha female execs navigating the chaos with grit and grace.
Madison Vanderberg, whose screenplay Howl landed on the 2024 Black List, is adapting the script. Drawing from her years in women’s media, Vanderberg brings a seasoned perspective on female dynamics in the workplace. “I jumped at the chance to mine those experiences,” she said, “and to work with Jessica and Netflix on this comedy about a unique sisterhood of alpha female execs”.
Alba, reflecting on the project, noted:
“As a successful entrepreneur, I’ve had years of first-hand experience with corporate culture and the irony/absurdities that can lie between the lines as a female executive. Madison exquisitely highlights those elements that are ridiculous while creating indelible characters who are trying to navigate the world of modern corporate culture—all while still holding onto their humanity”.
The deal follows Alba’s recent success with Trigger Warning, a Netflix thriller she produced and starred in, which debuted at #1 in 67 countries and racked up over 91 million views globally. She’s also fresh off the third season premiere of Honest Renovations, her unscripted Roku series with Lizzy Mathis.
Lady Metalmark, founded in 2024, continues to champion diverse, female-driven, and culturally rich storytelling. With this latest venture, Alba is doubling down on her mission to amplify bold female voices—this time, with a cocktail of comedy, chaos, and corporate satire.
Stay tuned: if Alba’s pitch delivers on its promise, Netflix may have another breakout hit on its hands.
