HOLLYWOOD — The silence is far from over. Paramount Pictures has officially confirmed that John Krasinski will return to the director’s chair for the next core installment of the blockbuster horror franchise, A Quiet Place Part III.
While the franchise recently expanded with the prequel A Quiet Place: Day One (2024), this upcoming chapter—technically the fourth film in the series—will return to the main timeline to conclude the story of the Abbott family. The studio has staked out a high-profile summer release date of July 9, 2027.
Krasinski’s Return to the Director’s Chair
After serving as a producer on the Michael Sarnoski-directed prequel, Krasinski is reclaiming full creative control for the “threequel.” He is set to write, direct, and produce the film, mirroring his deep involvement in the first two installments that turned the concept into a global phenomenon.
Producer Brad Fuller recently hinted that the delay in the film’s production was due to Krasinski’s packed schedule. “He’s so in demand now,” Fuller noted, referencing Krasinski’s work on the film IF and the upcoming Jack Ryan movie. “We all want to finish that trilogy, and I’m hopeful there’s even more beyond that.”
What We Know So Far
While plot details are being guarded with typical franchise-level secrecy, several key details have emerged:
- Release Date: July 9, 2027.
- The Cast: Although not officially signed, Emily Blunt is expected to return as Evelyn Abbott. Blunt has previously stated she would only do a third film if Krasinski returned to direct.
- The Story: The film is expected to pick up where Part II left off, with Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and Emmett (Cillian Murphy) having discovered a way to weaponize high-frequency sound against the “Death Angels.”
- The Scale: Sources suggest this film will serve as the “epic conclusion” to the original Abbott family trilogy started in 2018.
With Krasinski back at the helm, fans can expect the same signature blend of heart-pounding tension and emotional family stakes that defined the series’ debut.
