Meghan Markle is returning to acting after an eight-year hiatus, with a cameo role in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends.
Los Angeles, 6 November 2025 — Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is officially stepping back into the spotlight with her first acting role since leaving Hollywood in 2017. After years of speculation and creative ventures outside film, Markle has joined the cast of Close Personal Friends, a new comedy from Amazon MGM Studios, where she will play herself in a cameo appearance.
The film, which stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding, explores the dynamics between two couples—one famous, one not—and is set against the backdrop of Los Angeles celebrity culture. Markle was spotted on set in Pasadena earlier this week, reportedly “relaxed and happy,” according to insiders.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves,” a source told The Sun. “She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right. Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy”.
Markle, best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama Suits, left acting shortly before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. Since then, she has focused on philanthropic work, media production, and advocacy. Her return to acting is seen as a gentle re-entry into the industry, with the role described as “small but meaningful”.
The film’s release date has not yet been announced, but anticipation is already building. Markle’s involvement adds a layer of intrigue to a project already buzzing with star power and satirical edge.
Whether this marks the beginning of a full-fledged return to acting or a one-off cameo remains to be seen. But for now, Meghan Markle’s reappearance on set signals a new chapter—one that blends fame, fiction, and personal reinvention.
