Inspired by Classic R&B
While plot details remain under wraps, the film is known to be inspired by the seminal 1996 album “Urban Hang Suite” by R&B artist Maxwell. The project has been in development for some time, originally landing at Amazon before moving to Netflix. The source material hints at a story focused on modern relationships, emotional depth, and the pursuit of true connection.
The screenplay was penned by Eugene Ashe and Kay Oyegun, ensuring a narrative that resonates with the emotional texture of the music that inspired it. Both Long and Tate are also attached to the project as executive producers.
Netflix has not yet announced a release date for “Don’t Ever Wonder,” but production is expected to move full steam ahead with the finalized cast.
