CULVER CITY, CA — Prime Video has officially greenlit a third season of its powerhouse crime thriller, Cross, doubling down on the Aldis Hodge-led series just hours after its explosive Season 2 finale.
The announcement, made on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, cements the show’s status as a cornerstone of the streamer’s original slate. Like its predecessors, Season 3 will consist of eight episodes and will continue to be produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Paramount Television Studios.
A “No-Brainer” Renewal
The decision to renew the series comes on the heels of staggering viewership data and critical acclaim. Following its February 11 premiere, Season 2 saw a massive jump in audience engagement:
- Ratings: Season 2 currently holds a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, a significant climb from the first season’s 75%.
- Global Reach: The series has consistently ranked in the Top 10 original series globally since its return, reportedly drawing 40 million viewers within its first 20 days.
- Recognition: The show’s momentum was further bolstered by its recent wins at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series.
- The Consultant Era: Insiders suggest Season 3 may draw inspiration from the novels where Cross transitions into a private consultant, allowing him to navigate cases without the bureaucratic red tape of the police department.
- Returning Cast: Aldis Hodge will return as both star and executive producer. He is expected to be joined by series regulars Isaiah Mustafa (John Sampson) and Alona Tal (Kayla Craig).
- Creative Team: Showrunner Ben Watkins remains at the helm, continuing his planned four-season narrative arc for the series.
