LOS ANGELES – Fans of the Magic Mike and Gambit star are sending their best wishes today after Channing Tatum revealed he has been hospitalized for major shoulder surgery.
The 45-year-old actor shared the news early Wednesday morning (February 4, 2026) through a series of candid social media posts that combined his trademark humor with a stark look at his recovery process.
The Surgery and Recovery
Tatum posted a black-and-white photo of himself in a hospital gown and surgical cap, lying in a medical bed. The caption reflected his determination to tackle the long road ahead:
”Just another day. Another challenge. This one is gonna be hard. But whatever. Let’s get it in.”
The actor followed up the post with X-ray images on his Instagram Stories, showing a “gnarly” separated shoulder. A post-operative image revealed a large surgical screw holding the joint together, which Tatum playfully captioned, “Screwed shoulder. Yay.”
The Cause: A Lingering Stunt Injury?
While Tatum didn’t specify the exact moment of the injury, many believe it is a development from a previous mishap. Last September, the actor reportedly suffered a serious injury on the set of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which forced him to use a stunt double for several scenes, including a major fight with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Tatum has previously expressed frustration with the aging process and the reality of long-term recovery, telling Variety last year:
- ”It’s not about the pain I feel in the moment… it’s knowing I can’t take this back. And now I know what the next six months of my life will be like.”
What This Means for Upcoming Projects
Despite the hardware in his shoulder, Tatum’s 2026 remains packed:
- ‘Josephine’: His intense new thriller just premiered at Sundance to critical acclaim.
- ‘Avengers: Doomsday’: Tatum is still set to reprise his role as Gambit when the film hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
Tatum’s girlfriend, model Inka Williams, voiced her support in the comments of his post, writing, “Big bad wolf we got disss.”
