Marvel Comics is pulling back the curtain on its reimagined multiverse with the announcement of Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1, a one-shot arriving December 3rd that promises seismic revelations, cosmic reinventions, and the long-awaited debut of Ultimate Daredevil.
A Universe Reborn
Written by Deniz Camp (Ultimates, Ultimate Endgame) and Alex Paknadel (Red Goblin, Cult of the Lamb), the issue continues Marvel’s tradition of year-end Ultimate Universe retrospectives. Following last year’s One Year In, which introduced Ultimate Nick Fury and exposed the sinister Maker’s Council, this new installment expands the scope dramatically—from the birth of humanity to a dystopian future 2000 years ahead.
Camp describes the issue as “bold, heartfelt, and filled with big new ideas and surprising twists on old characters,” while Paknadel calls it “a license to rethink and reinvent your favorite characters”.
Enter Ultimate Daredevil
Among the new arrivals is Ultimate Daredevil, a radical reimagining of the Man Without Fear. Still retaining the core essence of Matt Murdock’s fearlessness, this version is scaled up to a cosmic-level hero—suggesting powers and responsibilities that transcend Hell’s Kitchen and reach into the fabric of time and space.
Paknadel teases that this Daredevil is “something without fear,” but now operating on a scale that could rival the likes of Silver Surfer or Captain Marvel. It’s a bold move that positions him as a key player in the coming Ultimate Endgame.
The Ultimate Guardians Return
The issue also marks the return of the Ultimate Guardians—heroes from the 61st century whose utopia was shattered by the Maker’s manipulations. Now, they traverse time and space, recruiting allies to prepare for the Maker’s escape and the cataclysmic Ultimate Endgame event launching December 31st.
Their journey will reveal the fate of missing heroes, including Daredevil, and set the stage for a multiversal showdown that could redefine the Ultimate Universe’s trajectory.
A Visual Feast
While Marvel has yet to reveal the full roster of artists, the issue promises contributions from “superstars from across the Marvel Universe,” with cover art by Ryan Stegman. Expect a visual tapestry as ambitious as the narrative itself—spanning epochs, dimensions, and emotional extremes.
With Ultimate Universe: Two Years In, Marvel isn’t just teasing a new chapter—it’s rewriting the rules. Cosmic Daredevil, time-traveling Guardians, and the looming threat of the Maker’s return all point to a universe on the brink of transformation. For fans of the Ultimate line, this is essential reading. For newcomers, it’s a thrilling entry point into a world where anything—literally anything—is possible.
