NEW YORK — As the dust settles on the reality-warping events of X-Men: Age of Revelation, Marvel has confirmed a seismic shift for the franchise’s most famous siblings. In the wake of a dark future where Illyana Rasputin was seemingly lost to the demonic forces of Limbo, the “From the Ashes” era is pivotally centering on a new chapter for the Rasputin family: Magik & Colossus.
Starting in February 2026, the two powerhouses are leaving the main X-teams behind to return to their roots in Russia. But this is no peaceful homecoming.
Healing Through Horror: The New Status Quo
The upcoming series, aptly titled Magik & Colossus, is being spearheaded by the creative team of writer Ashley Allen and artist Germán Peralta. The story picks up immediately after the “Shadows of Tomorrow” transition, where the X-Men are grappling with the memories of the Age of Revelation timeline.
For Piotr (Colossus) and Illyana (Magik), the mission is deeply personal. The series aims to bridge the emotional distance that has grown between them over years of trauma:
- Illyana’s Evolution: After her “death” and subsequent return as the Darkchild in the alternate future, Magik is focusing on a “healing process.” She is attempting to integrate her demonic side without letting it break her spirit.
- Piotr’s Redemption: Colossus is moving away from his recent dark turns (including his time under his brother Mikhail’s mind control). Having operated under the alias “Tank” recently, he is now looking to reclaim his identity as a protector.
- Amazing X-Men and Uncanny X-Men will resume their original numbering.
- Cyclops and Beast are confirmed to retain memories of the dark future, using that knowledge to prevent the rise of “Revelation” (Doug Ramsey) in the present timeline.
- New Blood: The era will also see the fallout of Magik’s “future” daughter, Nika, whose existence in the main canon remains a major point of fan speculation.
As the “Shadows of Tomorrow” loom, the reunion of the Rasputins marks a return to character-driven storytelling that fans have long requested. Whether they can survive the ghosts of their past—and the monsters of their present—remains to be seen.
