LOS ANGELES – Global superstar Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Lord of the Rings alum Orlando Bloom are set to join forces for the upcoming survival thriller Reset. The project, which was officially announced on Thursday, May 7, 2026, marks the first time the two A-listers will share the screen in what is being described as a high-stakes psychological battle in the wilderness.
The Plot: A Game of Trust and Deceit
Directed by Matt Smukler (Wildflower) and written by Jordan Rawlins, Reset centers on a woman (Chopra Jonas) who awakens in a remote, grueling wilderness with no memory of how she arrived there. Days away from civilization, her only hope for survival is a charming but mysterious stranger (Bloom) whose motives remain dangerously unclear.
The film is designed to be a “two-hander” that leans heavily into the tension between its leads. Director Matt Smukler highlighted the specific chemistry required for the roles:
”I was looking for a pairing where attraction and mistrust could effortlessly coexist. Priyanka and Orlando have this uncanny ability to make you believe both at once. Their chemistry is undeniable.”
Production and Behind-the-Scenes
Reset is not just a performance vehicle for the stars; both lead actors are also serving as producers through their respective banners:
- Production Teams: Priyanka’s Purple Pebble Pictures and Orlando’s Amazing Owl are co-producing alongside Fratricidal Films and Rhodes Entertainment.
- Filming Schedule: Principal photography is slated to begin in August 2026.
- Global Sales: International rights for the film are expected to be launched at the upcoming Cannes Market (Marché du Film) later this month.
Priyanka’s “Action Era” Continues
The announcement of Reset adds to an incredibly busy slate for Chopra Jonas, who has effectively solidified her status as a top-tier global action lead. This news comes just as she began filming the second season of her spy-thriller series Citadel and following the success of her recent Prime Video hit, The Bluff.
Additionally, Chopra Jonas is preparing for a major return to Indian cinema in SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated epic Varanasi, which is reportedly eyeing an April 2027 release.
Orlando Bloom’s Darker Turn
For Bloom, Reset represents a move toward grittier, suspense-driven material following his recent work in Gran Turismo and the final season of Carnival Row. Critics are eager to see the actor play a role defined by ambiguity, a departure from his more traditional heroic archetypes.
