NEW YORK — Mickey Haller is preparing to try his final case. Netflix has officially announced that its hit legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer will conclude with its upcoming fifth season.
The surprise disclosure was made during the streaming giant’s annual Upfronts presentation in New York City. The strategic timeline for the series has been uniquely expedited; Netflix quietly handed the show a 10-episode fifth season renewal in late January 2026—just one week before Season 4 debuted on February 5. However, the platform withheld the detail that Season 5 would serve as the series’ final chapter until now.
Cameras are currently rolling on the final episodes in Los Angeles, tracking toward an anticipated premiere window in early 2027.
Landing the Plane the Right Way
The decision to end the show comes as a shock to fans, given that The Lincoln Lawyer has consistently ranked as one of Netflix’s most reliable, top-performing domestic drama titles. Based on the bestselling book series by Michael Connelly, the show stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as the charismatic defense attorney who famously runs his law practice out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car.
In a joint statement, series creator Ted Humphrey and co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez expressed mixed emotions about parting ways with the franchise, emphasizing that the conclusion is a creative choice to give the narrative a proper send-off.
”All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us,” Humphrey and Rodriguez stated. “From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is of course bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close… We promise you, we are right now building a final season that will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves.”
The Final Case: Resurrection Walk
The final 10-episode installment will adapt Resurrection Walk, the seventh novel in Connelly’s book series. According to the official Season 5 logline released by Netflix, Mickey’s world is entirely upended when he discovers the existence of Emi, a half-sister he never knew he had. She approaches him with a high-stakes case, pulling the lawyer into a legal battle to free a woman who has been wrongfully convicted of murder.
A Stacked Farewell Cast
To ensure the series goes out on a high note, Netflix has announced a massive wave of new high-profile guest stars joining the core ensemble of Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, and Cobie Smulders.
The final season’s expanded call sheet includes:
- Amy Aquino (Bosch) as Judge Olivia Alcott.
- Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) as Brooke Miller.
- Nate Corddry (The Testaments) as Jimmy Finch.
- Angela Trimbur (Search Party) as Felicia.
- Elpidia Carrillo (Blue Beetle) as Muriel Perez.
- Keir O’Donnell as DDA Lucas Peralta.
They join previously confirmed guest stars Corbin Bernsen and Diane Guerrero, locking in a star-studded legal lineup for Haller’s final bow in court.
