LOS ANGELES – Reggie Dinkins is staying in the game. NBC has officially renewed its breakout sports mockumentary, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, for a second season, the network announced on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
The renewal comes as little surprise to industry insiders after the series, starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe, emerged as the most-watched new comedy of the 2025–26 television season.
A Ratings Powerhouse
The series benefited from a massive promotional push, including a high-stakes premiere on January 18, 2026, immediately following an NFL divisional playoff game.
- Massive Debut: The pilot episode drew an initial 5.8 million live viewers, eventually ballooning to over 14 million viewers across all platforms.
- Demo Dominance: It currently ranks as the #1 comedy on broadcast television in the coveted 18–49 demographic.
- Critical Darling: Beyond the numbers, the show holds a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising the “unexpected but electric” chemistry between Morgan and Radcliffe.
The Story So Far
Created by 30 Rock alums Robert Carlock and Sam Means, and executive produced by Tina Fey, the show follows Reggie Dinkins (Morgan), a disgraced former NFL superstar whose career ended in a gambling scandal.
In a desperate bid to rehab his image, Reggie hires Arthur Tobin (Radcliffe), a pretentious, award-winning documentary filmmaker, to chronicle his “comeback.” Season 1 followed their chaotic journey as Arthur attempted to find “artistic truth” while Reggie repeatedly sabotaged himself with his own eccentricities.
What to Expect in Season 2
While NBC has not yet set a firm premiere date, the second season is expected to consist of 10 episodes and will likely anchor the network’s 2026–27 midseason or fall schedule.
Returning Cast:
- Tracy Morgan as Reggie Dinkins
- Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Tobin
- Erika Alexander as Monica, Reggie’s ex-wife and manager
- Bobby Moynihan as Rusty, Reggie’s loyal but chaotic best friend
- Precious Way as Brina, Reggie’s fiancée
- Jalyn Hall as Carmelo, Reggie’s son
”We are thrilled to continue Reggie’s journey of self-discovery—or at least his journey of trying to convince everyone else he’s discovered himself,” said an NBC spokesperson. “The creative team has built a world that is as heart-wrenching as it is hilarious.”
The “Tina Fey Universe” Expands
The renewal further solidifies the dominance of the Little Stranger production banner. With Reggie Dinkins securing a second season, fans are already speculating about more high-profile guest stars following Season 1 appearances by Megan Thee Stallion, Craig Robinson, and Ronny Chieng.
