LOS ANGELES — American fans of Sullivan’s Crossing can breathe a sigh of relief. The CW Network has officially announced that it has renewed the hit romantic drama for a 10-episode fifth season, set to premiere in 2027.
The pickup follows the earlier Season 5 greenlight from Canadian network CTV, streaming platform Crave, and international distributor Fremantle, ensuring the cross-border co-production stays firmly intact for another chapter.
Based on the bestselling book series by Robyn Carr (Virgin River), the small-town drama stars Morgan Kohan as neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan alongside One Tree Hill alum Chad Michael Murray as local love interest Cal Jones.
Rating Surge and Behind-the-Scenes Shifts
The decision to bring the show back was an easy one for the network given its strong ratings trajectory. The series averages over 1 million cross-platform viewers per episode, experiencing a massive +62% boost among adults 18-49 and a +30% bump in total linear viewership season-over-season. It has also maintained a strong second life on streaming via Netflix in the U.S.
While the renewal brings stability to the broadcast lineup, Season 5 arrives with notable changes behind the camera. Series creator Roma Roth is stepping down as day-to-day showrunner to focus on developing Thunder Point—another Robyn Carr book adaptation—though she will remain on board as an executive producer. Acclaimed writer Floyd Kane (Diggstown) has officially joined as head writer to steward the show’s next phase.

What’s Next for Nova Scotia’s Favorite Campground
The news comes just weeks after the emotional Season 4 finale on The CW. The fourth season saw Maggie step away from the operating room to help manage the family campground, only for the unexpected arrival of her ex-husband, Liam (Marcus Rosner), to throw her relationship with Cal into deep uncertainty.
With production on Season 5 kicking off this month in Nova Scotia, fans can expect new episodes to hit screens in early 2027.
