LOS ANGELES — Netflix is ready to take another snap. The streaming giant has officially renewed its hit sports docuseries Quarterback for a third season, unveiling a highly volatile and diverse new roster of NFL signal-callers who will anchor the upcoming chapter.
Produced in tandem with NFL Films, Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, and Patrick Mahomes’ 2PM Productions, Season 3 is locked in for a global premiere on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
While previous seasons leaned heavily into established superstars like Mahomes and Kirk Cousins, Season 3 shifts its lens toward a fascinating mix of rising superstars, high-stakes rookies, and unprecedented midseason drama captured across the 2025 NFL campaign.
Four Distinct Stories, One Brutal Position
The newly announced four-man lineup offers the broadest spread of career trajectories and personalities in the show’s history, tracking everything from the pressure of being the No. 1 overall pick to the chaotic business side of the league.
1. Cam Ward (Tennessee Titans)
Stepping into the spotlight as the developmental focal point of the season, Ward enters the series as the highly scrutinized No. 1 overall pick of the Titans. Cameras followed the former Miami standout through the grueling reality of his rookie year as he fought to transition into the immediate face of an NFL franchise.
2. Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders)
Entering his second professional season with immense expectations, the dynamic dual-threat star looked to cement his status as the savior of the Washington franchise. However, the docuseries will offer an intimate, raw look at the physical toll of the game, as Daniels’ highly anticipated sophomore campaign was heavily disrupted by injuries.
3. Baker Mayfield (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
One of the NFL’s most naturally combustible and captivating personalities, Mayfield brings his signature fiery leadership back to the screen. The series chronicles his intense push to keep the Buccaneers in playoff contention in the NFC South, capturing the emotional volatility of a season that ultimately ended in heartbreak on the final weekend.
4. Joe Flacco (Cincinnati Bengals)
In what producers are calling a historical first for the franchise, the veteran Super Bowl MVP became the first player ever to be traded during active production of the show. Flacco began the 2025 campaign as the starter for the Cleveland Browns before a shocking midseason trade sent him to the rival Bengals to fill in for an injured Joe Burrow, offering a rare, real-time look at a veteran learning a brand-new playbook on the fly.
Expanding the Netflix Gridiron Ecosystem
The swift renewal of Quarterback underscores Netflix’s aggressive, highly successful expansion into long-form football storytelling. The original 2023 iteration effectively served as the NFL’s answer to Formula 1’s Drive to Survive, utilizing mic’d-up game audio and intense off-the-field family access to humanize the most demanding position in professional sports.
The massive global viewership of the franchise has since birthed a broader sports documentary ecosystem on the platform, including the companion series Receiver, as the NFL increasingly utilizes streaming giants to drive year-round fan engagement.
”The appeal of Quarterback has never just been about the X’s and O’s,” Netflix said in a statement accompanying the cast reveal. “It’s about capturing the immense pressure when it spills beyond the football field. This season, with trades, injuries, and rookies navigating the spotlight, offers our most revealing look at the position yet.”
Joe Zucco returns as showrunner for the third season, with Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes, and Jamie Horowitz continuing their roles as executive producers. All episodes of Quarterback Season 3 will drop simultaneously this July.
