LOS ANGELES — Expanding his long-standing partnership with Starz, entertainment mogul and producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is teaming up with the network once again to develop a live-action series adaptation of the supernatural crime graphic novel Bone Parish.
The project hails from BOOM! Studios and is based on the hit comic book series created by Cullen Bunn and Jonas Scharf. Acquired following a competitive bidding war, the series will be co-showrun by seasoned writers and producers Diane Ademu-John and Declan de Barra (Dune: Prophecy, The Witcher: Blood Origin), who will also serve as executive producers alongside Jackson.
A Deadly New Underworld in New Orleans
Set in the dark underbelly of New Orleans, Bone Parish follows the Winters family, a criminal dynasty that builds a powerful empire around a lucrative and dangerous new drug. Known simply as “The Ash,” the narcotic is crafted from the ground-up remains of the deceased and grants users vivid, haunting visions of the past.
As demand for the drug skyrockets, the family must fight off rival factions, navigate deadly internal secrets, and reckon with dark supernatural forces that threaten to pull them into an inescapable cycle of horror, crime, and tragic family legacy.
A Creative Powerhouse Team
Jackson will executive produce the series through his G-Unit Film & Television banner, continuing a fruitful creative relationship with Starz that spans multiple hit projects, including the sprawling Power universe. Joining Ademu-John and de Barra at the helm of the production are Stephen Christy and Mette Norkjaer, who will executive produce on behalf of BOOM! Studios.
Reflecting on the new venture, Jackson expressed excitement over blending grounded crime drama with supernatural elements.
”I’ve always been drawn to stories that break the mold, and Bone Parish does exactly that,” Jackson said in a statement. “It takes crime, family, and power, and mixes it with something dark and supernatural… We’re building a series that’s going to keep audiences locked in from the first episode.”
Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at Starz, highlighted the project as a bold new direction for the network’s growing slate of wholly owned intellectual properties.
”We love going on new journeys with Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, and this one is unlike anything we’ve done before: a world steeped in horror and the supernatural, but still grounded in the family and crime storytelling our audience can’t get enough of,” Busby noted.
Development on Bone Parish is currently underway, with casting details and a targeted production schedule expected to be announced in the coming months.
