HOLLYWOOD — The high-stakes spy network at Prime Video is expanding its ranks. Multi-hyphenate comedian, actor, and Las Culturistas podcast co-host Matt Rogers has officially joined the cast of Mr. & Mrs. Smith for its highly anticipated second season.
The casting addition marks another major puzzle piece falling into place for the Emmy-nominated spy thriller, which has undergone an extensive retooling behind the scenes ahead of its sophomore outing. According to production briefs, Rogers is set to step into the role of “Another John”—playing a separate operative working under the same enigmatic, codenamed corporate umbrella.
A Fresh Dynamic for the Covert Agency
The series, originally co-created by Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane, captured critical acclaim in 2024 by following two lonely strangers who surrender their real identities to live undercover as a wealthy, married spy duo.
Season 2 is poised to radically shake up that framework. Following the explosive, ambiguous cliffhanger of the freshman season’s finale, the series is moving its production footprint from New York to Los Angeles and leaning into a brand-new iteration of the agency.
Rogers will not be the only new face navigating the corporate spy infrastructure. He joins a newly refreshed cast led by incoming season stars Mark Eydelshteyn and Talia Ryder. Furthermore, Rogers will be sharing the screen with fellow newcomer Francesca Scorsese, who was recently cast in the parallel role of “Another Jane”.
Behind-The-Scenes Reshuffling
Getting Season 2 off the ground has proved to be a complex logistical mission for Amazon MGM Studios. Production was originally delayed in late 2025 due to casting shifts and the expiration of Sloane’s overall studio deal.
To keep things moving forward and secure a crucial $32 million California tax credit, writer-producer Anna Ouyang Moench was brought on to steer the ship as co-showrunner alongside Sloane.
While original stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are stepping back from their front-and-center acting roles, Glover remains heavily tethered to the project’s creative DNA. He continues to serve as an executive producer and has formally signed on to direct multiple episodes of the upcoming season.
A Major Dramatic Milestone for Rogers
The role represents a significant, high-profile dramatic milestone for Rogers. Long celebrated in the comedy and pop-culture space for his wildly successful podcast Las Culturistas—which he co-hosts alongside Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang—Rogers has been steadily cementing his presence in prestige television.
His expanding acting resume includes a prominent turn in Netflix’s dark comedy series No Good Deed, alongside roles in Fire Island and I Love That For You.
Principal photography for Season 2 formally kicked off in Los Angeles earlier this spring, and the addition of Rogers’ sharp, comedic timing hints that the upcoming season will double down on the show’s signature blend of high-octane espionage and dry, relational satire.
