LOS ANGELES — Actress Alexandra Metz has joined the cast of ABC’s crime drama Will Trent as a series regular for its upcoming fifth season, stepping into a key leadership role following a major character departure.
Metz, widely recognized for her recurring role as Dr. Yolanda Garcia on HBO’s The Pitt, will portray Birdie Palmer, the newly appointed Deputy Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Stepping Into a Leadership Void
The character enters the narrative to succeed Amanda Wagner, played by Sonja Sohn, whose character met a fatal end during the fourth-season finale. Production details describe the incoming deputy director as confident, ambitious, and razor-sharp, though heavily guarded due to an impactful event from her past.
The introduction of the new bureau chief is anticipated to create immediate friction and complex dynamics for special agent Will Trent, played by series lead Ramón Rodríguez, as the agency adjusts to a new command structure.
Production Schedules
Metz will maintain a dual presence across television projects, continuing her work on The Pitt as the medical drama moves forward with its third season.
Production on Will Trent Season 5 is currently underway in Atlanta. The network has slated the upcoming season for a midseason premiere.
