LOS ANGELES — He’s out of retirement—again. Amazon MGM Studios has officially released the full trailer for “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War,” confirming that the high-stakes political thriller will premiere globally on Prime Video on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The feature-length film marks the official continuation of the hit series that concluded in 2023. John Krasinski reprises his role as the titular CIA analyst-turned-field-operative, serving as both the lead star and a co-writer for the project.
The “Starling” Conspiracy
Picking up some time after the events of Season 4, Ghost War finds Jack Ryan attempting to enjoy a quiet, civilian life. However, his “nerdy analytical side” is forced back into action when an international mission uncovers a conspiracy tied to a rogue clandestine unit known as “Starling.”
The group consists of highly trained agents who have gone rogue, planning a massive attack against the U.S. and its allies. With the enemy seemingly anticipating every move, Ryan must navigate a web of betrayal where his past—and the safety of the world—are at stake.
A Global Cast and Crew
The film reunites fans with several series favorites while introducing a high-profile new ally.
- Returning Legends: Wendell Pierce returns as the formidable James Greer, and Michael Kelly is back as the fan-favorite operative Mike November. Betty Gabriel also reprises her role as Elizabeth Wright.
- New Blood: Sienna Miller joins the franchise as MI6 operative Emma Marlowe. Early footage suggests a high-octane partnership, with Marlowe essentially serving as a “female James Bond” to Ryan’s more calculated analyst.
- Behind the Camera: The film is directed by Andrew Bernstein, who previously helmed several episodes of the original series. The screenplay was co-written by Krasinski and Aaron Rabin.
Production Logistics
Filmed between January and July 2025, Ghost War promises the same globetrotting scale as its predecessor series, with key sequences shot in:
- London (featuring heavy car chases and shoot-outs)
- Dubai
- New York City
The Verdict on the Return
While the series technically “ended” three years ago, the demand for Krasinski’s version of the character remained high. By pivoting to a feature-length “movie event” format, Prime Video aims to capture the cinematic thrill of the original Tom Clancy films (like The Hunt for Red October) while maintaining the modern, serialized depth of the 2018–2023 series.
Fans can catch the final countdown to the premiere on the newly launched Aliens.gov—a tongue-in-cheek reference to the President’s recent UFO disclosure teases—which has been hosting exclusive “Jack Ryan” themed countdown teasers.
