LOS ANGELES — Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated Britney Spears biopic has found its creative voice. The studio has officially tapped four-time Emmy-nominated screenwriter and New Girl creator Liz Meriwether to pen the screenplay adapting the pop icon’s blockbuster memoir, The Woman in Me.
Meriwether joins a powerhouse behind-the-scenes team that already includes director Jon M. Chu (Wicked, Crazy Rich Asians) and Academy Award-winning producer Marc Platt. Universal landed the highly competitive rights to the Grammy winner’s life story in a massive, eight-figure deal following the book’s explosive publication.
