LOS ANGELES — In a move that solidifies Taylor Sheridan’s status as the king of streaming, Paramount+ officially announced on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, that the neo-Western drama The Madison has been renewed for a third season.
The early renewal comes just one month after the show’s record-breaking series premiere on March 14, and notably, before a single episode of the already-filmed second season has even aired.
A Record-Breaking Debut
Despite mixed critical reviews, The Madison has proven to be an undeniable juggernaut with audiences. According to data released by Paramount:
- The “Sheridan Peak”: The series drew eight million views worldwide in its first 10 days, marking the most-watched first-season launch in Taylor Sheridan’s career—outpacing both Tulsa King and 1923.
- Streaming Dominance: Per Luminate, it was the #1 original streaming season by views during its premiere week of March 13–19, 2026.
Stabler, Stabler, and the Clyburns
Originally conceived as a Yellowstone spin-off, The Madison eventually pivoted to a standalone series. It follows Stacy Clyburn (played by Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer), a grieving New Yorker who uproots her family to the Madison River Valley of Montana following an unexpected tragedy.
”The writing was so authentic, it just kept hitting me really hard,” Kurt Russell told The National earlier this month. “I felt that was a big part of this show’s potential to grab an audience.”
Production Timeline & Future
Because seasons 1 and 2 were filmed back-to-back to accommodate Kurt Russell’s schedule (amid his work on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters), fans won’t have to wait long for more content.
- Season 2 Release: Expected to arrive on Paramount+ in late 2026 or early 2027.
- Season 3 Status: Production is expected to begin later this year, with a potential release window in late 2027.
While critics have labeled the show “divisive,” citing its sharp contrast between Manhattan energy and Montana landscapes, Paramount+ executives remain all-in. “It was a real thrill to see this story resonate so quickly,” said Jane Wiseman, head of originals at Paramount+. “The Clyburns have a long journey ahead of them.”
