NEW YORK CITY — In a major win for romance readers, Prime Video officially announced a series order for Rose Hill, a live-action drama based on the bestselling book saga by Elsie Silver.
The announcement was a centerpiece of Amazon MGM Studios’ 2026 Upfront presentation in New York on Monday, May 11, signaling the streamer’s aggressive expansion into the “Small Town Romance” and “Western” genres.
The Plot: Heat in the Mountains
Set in a rugged mountain town, the series will bring to life the interconnected stories of the beloved Rose Hill book series. According to the official logline, the drama follows:
- West Belmont: A rancher with notorious commitment issues.
- Ford Grant: A reclusive record label owner—dubbed Forbes’ “World’s Hottest Billionaire”—who has secretly harbored feelings for West’s sister, Rosie, for years.
- The Catalyst: The arrival of country-pop sensation Skylar Stone, whose presence in the mountain town forces long-buried tensions and romances to the surface.
Top-Tier Creative Team
Prime Video has assembled a heavyweight creative team to ensure the adaptation meets the high expectations of Silver’s massive “BookTok” and “Bookstagram” following:
- Showrunner: Heidi Cole McAdams (The 100) will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
- Director: Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man, 500 Days of Summer) is set to direct the pilot and the second episode.
- Production: The series is produced by Temple Hill Entertainment, the powerhouse behind hits like The Twilight Saga and The Fault in Our Stars.
- Author Involvement: Elsie Silver joins the project as an executive producer, ensuring the series stays true to the “sassy and sexy” tone of her novels.
“To see everyone’s hard work and creativity come to life on screen will be a dream come true!” Silver said in a statement. “Working with this team on the Rose Hill adaptation has been such a treat.”
Prime Video’s Romance Strategy
The Rose Hill order comes at a time when Prime Video is leaning heavily into book-to-screen adaptations. The streamer’s 2026 slate also includes adaptations of Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus (premiering May 13) and Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing.
Industry analysts view Rose Hill as Prime Video’s direct answer to Netflix’s upcoming Western romance Ransom Canyon, targeting the lucrative audience that craves “sweeping, emotional, and character-driven” storytelling.
While fans wait for casting news on Rose Hill, the author’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Her brand-new book, Fever Dream—the first in her Emerald Lake series—is scheduled for release on May 19, 2026.
