​LOS ANGELES — Pop superstar and Oscar-nominated actress Ariana Grande will take an extended hiatus from public-facing work and appearances following the conclusion of her current tour, citing the toll of “endless, ongoing public scrutiny” surrounding her personal life and health.

​The announcement, delivered by her representative, coincides with the news that the 33-year-old singer has withdrawn from her planned West End stage debut in London.

​Grande’s representative confirmed that the singer intends to complete her ongoing Eternal Sunshine Tour, which is scheduled to wrap up on September 1 with a multi-night residency at London’s O2 Arena, before stepping away from the spotlight.

​“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” her representative said in a statement to People. “She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny. This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

​Sources close to the performer emphasized that despite online commentary regarding her health and physical appearance, Grande continues to maintain an intensive, high-energy tour schedule night after night.

​As part of her decision to step back from public commitments, Grande has officially exited the upcoming West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Sunday in the Park with George. She had been set to star opposite her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey at London’s Barbican Centre in the summer of 2027.
