CULVER CITY — The halls of Godolkin University are closing their doors for good. Amazon Prime Video confirmed on Friday, April 24, 2026, that Gen V, the hit collegiate spinoff of The Boys, has been canceled and will not return for a third season.
The decision comes just months after the conclusion of its second season in late 2025. While the show was a critical darling and a significant pillar of the “Vought Cinematic Universe” (VCU), executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg announced that the series has reached its natural conclusion.
The Official Statement
In a joint statement released via Variety, Kripke and Goldberg assured fans that while the show is ending, the characters are not being abandoned.
”While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”
A Production Defined by Tragedy
Industry insiders point to a combination of factors that led to the cancellation. Most notably, the series was fundamentally altered by the tragic death of star Chance Perdomo (Andre Anderson) in a motorcycle accident in March 2024.
- Story Overhaul: Rather than recasting the role, producers opted to honor Perdomo by restructuring Season 2 to wrap up the core Godolkin narrative.
- Viewership Momentum: Despite a massive debut for Season 2—which garnered 424 million minutes viewed in its premiere week—the series struggled to maintain its spot on the Nielsen Top 10 Streaming charts as the season progressed.
- The “Final Season” Synergy: With the flagship series The Boys set to air its series finale on May 20, 2026, Amazon is reportedly shifting its focus toward a more streamlined franchise future.
What’s Next for the Supes?
The cancellation of Gen V does not mean the end of the “VCU.” Amazon has a clear roadmap for the remaining Godolkin students and the franchise at large:
- The Boys Season 5: Several key characters from Gen V—including Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) and Jordan Li (London Thor/Derek Luh)—are confirmed to appear in the final episodes of The Boys, currently airing weekly.
- Vought Rising: A new prequel series set in the 1950s starring Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy) and Aya Cash (Stormfront) is currently in production and slated for a 2027 release.
- The Boys: Mexico: A Spanish-language spinoff remains in active development with Gael García Bernal attached.
The Legacy of Godolkin
Gen V was lauded for its unflinching look at supe-trauma and its satirical take on corporate-run higher education. For many fans, the Season 2 finale—which saw the students recruited by Annie January (Starlight) to join the resistance against Homelander—serves as a definitive bridge into the franchise’s final endgame.
